Our school has a special tutoring program, where the "lucky-selected" students act as tutors for their other classmates. There are 3 subjects: biology, maths, and physics. And...I am selected as the biology tutor!
My first day is totally awkward and such a disaster. I handled the first shift, starts from 8 am to 9.30 am. I arrived at school at 7.30 to prepare my material with my other friend that act also my partner in this biology class. Half an hour later, some of my classmates (read: my students) came and took their seat. Half of the seats were not taken yet.
*prepare* *prepare* *prepare*
All the seats were almost taken, about 25 students joined my class. The material was structure and function of plants. I tried to make this session as fun as possible, but also as effective as possible. But all my hopes fell apart.
Only 50% of the class that really paid attention to my teaching, 25% of them half daydreaming, and the rest were completely lost in their own thoughts.
Now I understand the teacher's feeling when their students aren't paying any attention to them. Or when you give foolish and stupid comments. Ignored, Abandoned, and Hurtful.
But overall, I think that my first day wasn't really bad, or was it? I hope not. My next class should be better. I try to make it more interesting. A few quiz or puzzles maybe?
0 little brilliant ideas..:
